12.2.5. Removal and installation of the top cross lever
Details of installation of the top cross lever of a back suspension bracket

- Details of installation of the lower cross lever of a back suspension bracket are shown on an illustration to which all references which are found in the text belong.
- Remove back wheels, remove the spare wheel (except models with fastening of the last on the holder behind a door of a back and models 163.174). At the corresponding complete set remove the external holder of a spare wheel.
- On models 163.174 (ML 55 AMG) remove loker of protection of wheel arches.
- Remove the wheel sensor (L6/3, - in case of the left lever).
- Disconnect rack-mount assembly (6j) from a side beam of a suspension bracket (see the Section Removal, dismantling and installation of back racks).
- Squeeze out the top spherical support (91a) of stupichny assembly.
- Disconnect from a stretcher the lower cross lever (see the Section Removal, dismantling and installation of back racks).
- Give fixing nuts, previously having marked adjusting provisions (shooters), take axial bolts (91b) and separate the top lever (91) from a frame beam.
- Check a condition of rubber axial plugs and a spherical support, in case of need make replacement (see the Sections Removal and installation of the lower cross lever, replacement of the forward axial plug and Check of a condition of spherical support of a rotary fist).
- Installation is made upside-down, - at installation of levers assembly of the bridge has to hold strictly horizontal position. Track correctness of combination of the landing tags (arrow) put in the course of dismantle.
