3.13. Replacement and check of the ATF level, replacement of the AT filter

The automatic transmissions used on the considered models of cars are filled with transmission liquid for all term of the service and do not need regular check and adjustment of level. Need for implementation of the procedure described below can arise only in the course of performance of capital repairs of AT. |
Replacement and check of the ATF level
|
- Liquid level is measured in automatic transmission at the heated-up engine and transmission, - make on the car short, about 15 km, a trip.
- Park the car on a plain horizontal surface, cock the parking brake. For reliable fixing of the car prop up wheels antiretractable boots.
- Start the engine on single turns. Squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake and accurately switch the selector lever from situation "P" to situation "1", then return back. Make sure of lack of signs of development of external leakages of ATF.
- The probe of measurement of level of liquid is located in a back part of transmission. Before taking the probe, carefully wipe adjoining to a case surface, - hit of dirt in transmission is inadmissible.
- Having hooked the suitable screw-driver, take a blocking clamp (the red uvula of a clamp breaks off, and the remained fragment is pushed out from a cover down) and uncover.

- Having used a funnel, fill in the necessary number of fresh ATF of the required grade in transmission.

When filling transmission it is recommended to fill in before the first start of the engine in AT case about 5 l of liquid. |
- Start the engine and, holding the car not movably foot brake, consistently translate the selector lever through all working ranges, in conclusion again having returned it to situation "P".
- Having previously carefully wiped, fill the measuring probe against the stop in a jellied mouth of transmission. Take the probe and determine the ATF level in a transmission case by length of the moistened site of its edge, at the cold unit level has to be between the marks min and max lower (25 °) probe scales, at hot – between identical tags top (80 °) scales.
- During a short trip warm up transmission up to the normal working temperature, wait about 2 minutes and once again repeat check of level of liquid at the working engine. If the ATF level is excessively high, excess of liquid has to be pumped out from AT case without fail, - excess of level, as well as the lack of ATF can lead to a transmission exit out of operation.
- Establish into place a cover of a jellied mouth and block it a new blocking clamp.
- Attentively examine AT case on existence of signs of development of leaks, in case of need make necessary corrections.
